Microsoft Windows Task View

This is the best guide that we've found that details how to best use the virtual desktop function. This feature has been sorely missing in previous versions of Windows. The virtual desktop feature is quite basic by modern standards with limited customization. Our main wish is that the desktops can be renamed.

Microsoft OneDrive on SD Card

Problem: I have a Windows 10 tablet that has a standard 30GB drive. This is just enough for the Windows 10 system files, Microsoft Office and a couple of apps. On top of that OneDrive restricts you to using fixed drives so you can not utilize the cheap 65GB SD expansion card leaving no room for your files.

Solution: A couple of versions back you could just make the SD card as a fixed drive however this option no longer works with OneDrive. It took a while to dig up a reasonable solution off the internet. Like strong epoxy glue the solution comes in two parts. It looks pretty complicated but the folks at MySysAdminTips have given step by step instructions that work like a treat. You can get your OneDrive and OneDrive for Business files working on your SD Card by performing the following steps:

  1. Add Micro-SD card to Windows 8 Libraries (Virtual Disk VHD method)
  2. Automatically attach Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) on system startup
  3. Configure OneDrive you work off VHD

Warning: Windows OS does it's best to make sure you do not enjoy a smooth experience. Some OS and OneDrive updates will reset the start-up sequence. Make sure that you keep a back-up of your files elsewhere.
